Properties of MovieClips

The stage has a width: stage.stageWidth, and a height: stage.stageHeight. Combined with the properties of a movie clip: x, y, width and height, it is possible to write actionscript to place a movie clip anyplace on the stage we want.

In the first movie, ball has the registration point in the top left corner. Click each button to move the ball and see the command that would place the ball in various positions on the stage. The arrow buttons move the ball. Get Adobe Flash player

In the second movie, star has the registration point in the center Click each button to move the ball and see the command that would place the ball in various positions on the stage. The arrow buttons move the star. Get Adobe Flash player

Compare the two examples to see how the registration point makes a difference in how we position the ball. Create your own movie and try these commands with the registration point in either location.
