Hello World! This is the second lesson in Excel. We're going to add equations. I have started a spreadsheet. I have items for a party. Cost and the quantity. The next thing I would like to do is multiply this (B2) and this (C2) to get the total for the pizza. I'll type equal = Click on B2. asterisk, * for multiplication. Click on C2. And press enter. And 5 pizzas for $12 apiece comes to $60. Instead of repeating that for the soda and the chips. I'm going to take this equation, Grab the handle at the corner, And drag it down. And you will see that For soda. It multiplies B3 time C3. And for chips it multiplies B4 times C4 and so that goes down that way. And then I want the grand total. And here I'm going to type equal = SUM Open parentheses ( And then select All of the cells, the range of values, D2 through D6 D2:D6 Close the parentheses. And press enter. And I have my total. There's a couple of other things that I want to do, I'm going to select this whole row, Go to home, And make it bold. And then I'm also going to format the currency cells So that they display to two decimal places. And maybe with a. A dollar sign in front: $ So I'm going to select that column. And then right click, Select format cells. And select currency. Two decimal places. I want a dollar sign. And I can also specify how I want negative numbers to appear. And make those selections and press okay. And then I'm going to do the same thing with the total. Select it, right click, Format cells. Select currency, And the same settings for that. And then I'm going to type the word total here. And then take this whole row, Go to home, and make it bold. And there I have my budget, and now if I want I can say. I had a budget for $150. Maybe I could add an extra pizza here. And another soda. Make that An extra two bags of chips. I could get another pizza- I have a budget of $150 I could get another two pizzas, Let's see what happens here. That's good, I can do that. And that's it.
