Fidget Quilts: Beads and Elastic
You can just pick up the elastic and drop it, or move the beads along the elastic. The elastic is flat, so that the beads won't go flying if the elastic comes loose.

Materials:
- Basic backing block Something shiny would be nice here.
- Flat elastic: cut 3 pieces: 8", 9", 8" (Tip: cut the elastic at an angle to make a point for stringing.)
- Assortment of beads, bells, buttons, keys, etc.
Instructions:
- Tie knot in one end of each piece of elastic.
- String about 4 to 7 beads, bells, keys, or other objects on each piece of elastic, then tie a knot in the end.
- Arrange the elastic pieces on the backing. Don't get to close to the corners.
We want to reduce the thickness in the corners for later assembly when we stitch through multiple layers.
- Stitch in place to secure.
Notes:
- The elastic is stitched again at the end, when the quilt blocks are sewn together.
- The flat elastic fits snugly so that if the elastic breaks, the beads won't spill.
- When I made the first fidget quilt, I didn't realize that keys were a good thing to include.
