Fidget Quilts: Cords and pulley
A cord that passes through elastic loops creates a pulley system and a Velcro traffic light.
Materials:
- Basic backing block Something shiny would be nice here.
- 3 pieces of elastic, about 3 or 4" long
- A pice of cord, leather, or shoelace to fit though the elastic loops
- Small penants or sinal flags to attach to cord.
- One piece of yellow Velcro to attach to backing.
- Green and red Velcro and red and green felt to make a traffic light.
Instructions:
- Make a loop of the 3 pieces of elastic and sew one loop to one edge, the other loops to different edges.
- Run the cord through the three loops, secure the two ends with fabric glue or by sewing..
- Fold a pice of vinyl or ribbon and cut small penants with the fold big enough to go arround the cord. Glue in place.
- Sew a piece of yellow Velcro, hook side to the backing.
- Cut circles from red and green felt. Use the loop side of Velcro to add matching color to each circle.
- Sew the two circles together so that either side can be showing when attached to the yellow Velcro.
Notes:
- Less is more. Don't add so many flagsnit is overwhelming.
- I had some ribbon donated to me. Lots of people have ribbon laying around, just let people know what you are working on.
- When you assemble the quilt, make sure the flags don't get caught in the seams.
