Fidget Quilts: Fruit
Three pieces of fruit (or other shapes) are attached with Velcro.

Materials:
- Basic backing block A small size print works well.
- From the pattern page, cut out the patterns for the 3 pieces of fruit.
- Enough Double Sided Iron-on Adhesive Film, for the 3 pieces of fruit.
- Fabric for the fruit: I used shiny red vinyl for the apple, peach colored velour for the peach, and plain yellow cotton for the pear.
- Fabric for the back side of the fruit.
- Small squares of Velcro cut into 1" squares. Cut 3 of the loop Velcro (fuzzy) pieces, and 3 of the hooks (scratchy) pieces.
- Leaves cut from green fabric.
Instructions:
Double Sided Iron On Adhesive Film has one side with a waxy adhesive, the other side has paper that looks like waxed paper. It is hard to trace the pattern onto the paper side, trace the pattern onto the waxy side. A ball point pen works well.
These instructions assemble the fruit so that the stitching to hold the Velcro in place doesn't show on the surface of the fruit.
- Stitch 3 leaves and the hook side of the Velcro to the backing where you want to attach the fruit. (Not too close to the edge.)
Start at the tip of the leaf, down the center and then around the 4 sides of the hook Velcro.
- Trace the pattern pieces onto the adhesive film and cut then out.
- Place the adhesive film on the wrong side of the fabric used for the back of the fruit. You can do all 3 pieces together.
- Iron in place, then cut them out. Your pieces will have the fabric for the back of the fruit on one side and the protective paper for the adhesive film on the other side.
- Stitch a piece of the loop (fuzzy side) Velcro to the fabric side of the piece.
- Cut out the colorful fruit, making sure that it faces the right direction for the back piece you made. The front of the fruit should have the same orientation as the back.
- Remove the paper from the front of the piece, and iron the colorful fruit piece to the back piece.
Notes:
- I had some bright red vinyl for the apple, and found some velour that was a peach color. You should look through you fabric and pick whatever fruit works for you.
- If you have fabric with fruit printed on that is the right size, or
fabric that would work for some other fruit, by all means use it.
- I had some leaves from silk flowers, so I used them, cut to the size I wanted. You can also use pinking shears to cut out leaves.
