Fidget Quilts: Weaving
Vertical strips are sewn to the backing at both ends. The horizontal strips are sewn on one side and rounded at the other end for weaving.

Materials:
- Basic backing block Something medium size print would work well.
- Make 4 heavy lengthwise strips ¾”x 8.5” in a solid color.
- Make 5 heavy crosswise strips ¾”x 7.5” in a contrasting color

Make the 5 crosswise strips ¾”x 7”:
Cut a piece of cardboard ¾” wide and 8 ½” long.
- Cut a piece of iron-on Interfacing 6 ½” x 10” and iron to back of the selected fabric (red in diagram), leaving ½” on right.
- Fold over the right side ½” and press. This end will be loose, so the fold will hide the raw edge.
- Place the piece of cardboard on top of the interfacing, with the fabric side down, about ½” from the top.

- Fold the top edge down onto the cardboard and press.
- Fold again to cover the cardboard. Press.

- Cut about ½” from bottom edge
- Press the bottom edge inside the fold and remove the cardboard.

- Use clips to hold the strip together and continue to make 4 more strips the same way.

- Top stitch around the edges.
Make the 4 lengthwise strips ¾”x 8 1/2”:
- Cut a piece of iron-on Interfacing 6 ½” x 9” and iron to back of the selected fabric.
- Make the strips the same way, except both ends are sewn down, so the edge does not need to be turned in on the right.
- Arrange lengthwise (long) strips evenly spaced on the backing.
- Stitch in place at both ends 1/4" from edge
- Arrange vertical (short) strips evenly spaced on the backing.
- Stitch the raw edge of strip in place at one end, 1/4" from edge, leaving the covered end free for weaving.
